Our researchers

We come to historic environments from different directions and meet in the same ground. Some of us trace how architecture and anthropology overlap, in marketplaces, festivals and the crowds that give cities their shape. Some work through drawing itself – notation and inscriptive practice as ways of knowing, not just recording. Others follow buildings and typologies across borders, recovering the uncredited voices and stories that histories leave out. We study how fabric is adapted and reused under real economic and environmental pressure, and how living heritage – craft, ritual, memory, everyday practice – shapes what a place means to the people who keep it going. We ask whose futures get (re)imagined for a city, and whose get displaced by them. Collectively we bring heritage, architecture, anthropology, history, urbanism and creative practice together to form the research questions that drive us: how places are made, held, contested and carried forward.
